Holds & Reserved Inventory
What are holds?
Section titled “What are holds?”A hold reserves a block of tickets or seats so they cannot be purchased through the public storefront. Common uses:
- Sponsor or partner reserved blocks
- Group sales pending contract confirmation
- Internal use (press, staff, comps)
Holding seats via seat status
Section titled “Holding seats via seat status”The most direct way to hold individual seats:
- Go to Admin > Seats > [Section] > [Row].
- Open the seat you want to hold.
- Change the Status to Blocked.
- Click Save.
A Blocked seat does not appear as available to buyers. To release the hold, set the status back to Available.
Holding inventory via promotion codes
Section titled “Holding inventory via promotion codes”For holding a block of seats with a sponsor code (the sponsor redeems the code to access their block):
- Create a price level at $0 (or the agreed sponsor price).
- Create a promotion with a unique code that unlocks that price level.
- Assign the block’s inventory to the promo-gated price level.
- Share the code with the sponsor or group.
When the code is entered at checkout, the sponsor’s block becomes accessible at the correct price.
Releasing a hold
Section titled “Releasing a hold”- Seat-based hold: Set seat status back to Available.
- Promo-based hold: Archive the promotion code, or reduce the code’s per-user limit to 0.
What could go wrong
Section titled “What could go wrong”- “Held seats are showing as available to buyers” — Confirm the seat status is set to Blocked, not just removed from a price level.
- “I can’t tell which seats are on hold” — Use the inventory grid (
Admin > Inventory) to review seat statuses by section.
